Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

imagesCAPHWCVF     Ethan Wate is haunted by dreams of a girl he’s never met. When Lena Duchannes moves into his small southern town of Gatlin County, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her. And he is determined to uncover the strange connection between them, even if it means uncovering the one secret that could change everything.

This is my absolute number one, without-a-doubt favorite book of all time. I don’t know why. It just is. I’ve read it more times than I can count and I still love it. If you saw my copy of the book, you’d know that it was well loved. All that aside, this book is extremely crafted. Having an inticate plot line full of magic, mystery, and an all consuming love makes it absolutely perfect. Set in a sleepy southern town that hasn’t changed in 150 years, it gives off a beautifully eery gothic setting. It’s the one place you’d never expect to be the epicenter of a secret world. As Ethan, a boy who can’t wait to get as far away as he can from the boring little town he grew up in, starts to fall for the Lena, one of the most powerful Casters EVER, he starts to see the town of Gatlin isn’t as bleak as he once thought. Together they discover unimaginable secrets about their town, their loved ones, and each other. With the deciding date of Lena’s 16th birthday growing closer with every second, Lena tries everything in her power (no pun intended) to change what she thinks is the inevitable Darkness. Ethan is by her side no matter what he comes his way, constantly doing his best to convince her that she can decide her own fate. It’s incredibly facsinating, the world that Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia have created.  I want to jump into this story and stay put. I love the air of mystery, the uncertainty of your own fate, and the undying love that is consistent throughout the story. Go find this book ASAP because you will not regret it!!
